Academic Team

Academic Team competes in Jeopardy-style and quizbowl competitions.  Quizbowl is a competition where two teams answer toss-up questions by ringing in using a buzzer system.  If a toss-up is answered correctly, team members may collaboratively answer three bonus questions.  Competitions can encompass all subjects or be subject-specific, such as National History Bee & Bowl.  Click here to access the Academic Team website. Advisors: Ms. McCrady & Ms. Seneca

Book Club

Book Club meets during lunch to discuss that month's book in a relaxed setting. Book Club is a great opportunity to relax and de-stress over some lighter books for pleasure reading.  Advisor: Ms. Gross

Chess Club

The Chess Club is open to any student who is interested in playing chess or learning to play chess. The Chess Team competes against other schools in the Shore Chess League, and also competes in several tournaments. Chess team rankings are determined by in-house competition.   Advisor: Ms. Seneca

Christian Fellowship

Christian Fellowship is a community of people across all grades who would like to explore their faith in God. Through weekly Bible study, discussions, and prayer, we draw connections between the Bible, our lives, and the world around us. Christian Fellowship is open to everyone, regardless of religion or belief.  Advisor:  Dr. Ellsworth

Dance Club

Dance Club creates a platform for people of all dancing backgrounds to come together to choreograph and perform. Dance styles include ballroom, jazz, tap, bhangra, classical Chinese, and hip-hop. Dance club performs at school events throughout the year and works with PAC on the choreography for the spring musical.  Advisor:  Ms. McCrady

Experimental Research Group

The Experimental Research Group is composed of students interested in preparing for research competitions and those pursuing independent study during their junior and senior years at HTHS.  Time commitment varies depending on research project and the number of competitions entered.  Cost varies by project, but PFA support in the way of matching funds and NJAS mini-grants are also available.  Advisors:  Dr. Ellsworth & Mr. Queenan

Finance Club

Finance Club seeks to compete in a variety of economic and financial challenges, including Euro Challenge, Fed Challenge, the SIFMA stock market challenge, and more. The club is also branching out into microfinance, an economic development geared towards establishing a successful economy in third-world nations.  Advisor:  Mr. Brown

French Club

French Club aims to promote the language and culture of the Francophonie, or French-speaking nations. We celebrate French holidays such as Bastille Day and Mardi Gras with authentic French food, view classic French films to better understand the French cultural identity and participate in the National French Contest. Overall, we create an environment in which students can practice and appreciate the French language and its applications in the modern world.  Advisor:  Madame

Gender & Sexualities Alliance (GSA)

The Genders & Sexualities Alliance, or GSA, is a student-run organization that unites LGBTQ+ and allied students and staff to build community and organize around issues impacting them in the school and community.  Advisor:  Ms. Gross

Key Club

Key Club is a student-led service organization with branches in countries located all over the world! Key Club allows members to provide service to others, build character, and develop leadership.  There are 13,000 Key Clubbers in the New Jersey District alone, who all work together towards making the world a better place! Math League

If you're a math whiz and love competition, join the Math League. You can compete in different leagues at various times (lunch time, afterschool, or with Brookdale). The various leagues are seasonal so look for the posted schedule.   Advisor:  Ms. Brown

Performing Arts Club

The Performing Arts Club is a combination of the Drama Club and the Jazz Band.  The Performing Arts Club typically puts on two performances every year: one-act plays in the fall and a musical in the spring. Performances are held at the Middletown Arts Center or Brookdale’s Performing Arts Center.  Meetings are every Wednesday after school.  Advisor:  Mr. Brown

Robotics & Coding Club

The Robotics & Coding Club serves as the perfect space for students who are interested in the design and development of robotics and software.  Its members, ranging from aspiring developers to complete novices, spend the year learning about concepts, working on projects and/or participating in team-based competitions such as hackathons and/or the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC).   Advisor:  Mr. Hanas

STEMinist Club

STEMinist club is a club that discusses gender issues within STEM, as well as possible career paths, in order to help combat the gender inequality that exists in STEM environments. Activities include listening to accomplished female guest speakers from various STEM-related fields, learning more about women's studies, and exploring different areas of STEM through hands-on activities. In addition, members of the STEMinist club assist with the annual Snacks with Scientists event.  Advisor:  Ms. Gross

Student Government Association (SGA)

SGA members serve as leaders of the school and are elected by each class in May or June. The SGA's main goal is to promote and foster a cooperative, fun, accepting social environment within HTHS. SGA coordinates several school wide activities, assists/supports other clubs as needed, and serves as the liaison between the student body and the Principal.  Advisor:  Ms. Brown, Mr. Roche (Seniors), Mr. Queenan (Juniors), Mr. Iatesta (Sophomores), Ms. McCrady (Freshmen)

Technology Student Association

The mission of the TSA is to prepare our members for the challenges of a dynamic world by promoting technological literacy, leadership, and problem solving. This is accomplished by providing students the opportunity to compete in a variety of STEM-related events. Officer meetings are held once a month and general membership meetings are held several times throughout the year. Meetings become more frequent prior to the NJ State Regional Competition or TSA Nationals Competition. Advisor:  Ms. Seneca

Yearbook

Join this club to help design this year's yearbook. Members will have the ability to create a yearbook that will be admired by their peers. Yearbook needs artists, photographers, journalists, administrators, and energetic individuals. The club's goal is to create a yearbook the school can be proud of while having fun! This club will meet once a week during lunchtime.  Advisor:  Mr. Borchardt
