Mission Statement: High Technology High School, a pre-engineering career academy that emphasizes the interconnections among mathematics, science, technology, and the humanities, prepares students to become creative problem solvers, effective communicators, and tomorrow's leaders through a rigorous, specialized curriculum and collaborative partnerships.
The administration, faculty, staff and parents, aided by An Advisory Board made up of leaders from local businesses, industry and colleges, form an integrated community with the intent of developing future leaders who have the desire, skills and preparation necessary to be lifelong learners.
Faculty members act as facilitators, assisting students in acquiring the communication and information access skills they will need to function as productive citizens in an increasingly technological world. Students are taught to be prudent risk-takers and creative problem solvers in a global society. Achievement of these goals will result in their becoming socially and ethically responsible adults.
A broader knowledge base and appreciation developed through exploring the interconnections among science, mathematics and the humanities elicits higher level thinking skills. To foster this development, High Technology High School will offer opportunities for the students to explore not only these connections, but also access a wide range of subjects and interests.
Monmouth County Vocational School District
The Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD) prepares students for an evolving workplace, lifelong learning and further education through six specialized career and technical programs. Each of the six academies are built around a particular theme. The six academies are:
The Academy of Allied Health and Science (AAHS)
The Academy of Law & Public Safety (ALPS)
Biotechnology High School (BTHS)
Communications High School (CHS)
High Technology High School (HTHS)
The Marine Academy of Science and Technology (MAST)
Along with its sister schools in the Monmouth County Vocational School District, High Technology High School is redefining education for the twenty-first century. Recognized twice as a NJ Star School, three times as a National Blue Ribbon School, and the number one STEM school in the country, the US Department of Education has described HTHS as a "benchmark school." It went on to say the school "evidences that its approach embraces student, faculty, staff, and administration alike in a mission of excellence, requiring the most of, and providing the most to, all who enter there." A member of the National Consortium of Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science and Technology (NCSSSMST), HTHS, along with local science and technology firms, has established a program that enriches the learning experience and motivates students to academic excellence.

History
HTHS opened for the first time in September of 1991 as a collaborative venture of the MCVSD Board of Education and the Brookdale Community College Board of Trustees. In 1992 the construction of the building was completed and the students moved into their own building on the Brookdale Community College Campus. In 1994 the building was expanded and it doubled the size of the school. In 2002 the school building was expanded again to include a new engineering lab, presentation space, faculty offices, and research wing for research projects in a variety of subject areas. The school continued to grow in size and scope and gain national recognition. The course offerings continued to expand to include a focus on science, math, and engineering. To prepare students for a career beyond high school and college each senior completes a one-semester internship at a university or college, a research institution, large and mid-size companies, or other businesses in New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania
